ironies

today i was watching oprah. did you see it?
there was a segment where this dad read letters he wrote to his newborn son who had a terminal disorder. the doctors didn't think the baby would live past birth, but he did. little eliot acutally lived for 99 days - an amazing miracle! so it was a video/photo montage of eliot with the dad reading these incredible letters of how much he loved eliot, how proud they were of him, & how happy they were to get up @ 3am & take care of him, how they celebrated each day of his life like it was a birthday... so i was sobbing. sobbing & thinking about how amazing life would be if i could grasp this kind of thing in the midst of the mundane, if i could truly understand what it means to be thankful for my life, and especially for my son's life...
that's when hudson puked.
yeah, you read that right - he puked 3 times right in the middle of my contemplation of the essense of real life.
he has amazing comedic timing.

it begins

that, my friends, is an enormous pile of onesies & gowns galore. my big, "trunk show" american apparel order came in!
so, it's officially on! i've spent the day (well, when i wasn't wrangling hudson anyway!) organizing everything, & ordering fabric, & making lists, & getting ready to add designs to all of this white cotton!

speaking of that certain little boy, i'm off to bed but i'll leave you with some pictures of him from a fall festival this weekend...

this is my friday night...! clint's putting the pajama man to sleep & i'm about to stick our frozen pizza in the oven & finish up some sewing. i'm working on some christmas designs for the trunk show. i've had so much fun, & i think you're going to like them!

roses

did you know tyler is the rose capital of the world?
this time of year you can buy them by the dozens off most street corners in town. they come wrapped in newspapers, & you do have to watch the thorns. the best part is that they have THE most amazing smell. i'm talking about the kind of scent you catch just walking by. and the dreamy colors...
this is the stuff of childhood memories for me.

okay, i have THE most exciting news to share! it's soooo exciting, it makes my heart flitter & those stomach butterflies start their fluttering dance!

i'm having a TRUNK SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes!!! i'm so thrilled to tell you! it's going to be @ Snug as a Bug in Tyler the first week of december.

oh my gosh! can you believe it??! my mind is TOTALLY racing a million miles an hour with so many thoughts & ideas - aaahhhhhhh! last night i had a hard time sleeping because i was just thinking of all of the possiblities!

oh my, oh my, oh my! i'm so excited i can hardly stand it! i'll keep you filled in on all of the details & please DO plan to come if you can at all swing it :)

not the best pics - i was in a rush this morning (YES i made it this morning!). i used the same fabric as "red bird", but i knew ruth would like a pink bird (the woman has purchased every darling, pink baby item sold in north america!).

busy baker bee

whew, today has been a busy day.
hudson & i spent the morning scooting around, running our errands. first stop was the new postal store with a red bird gift set. amanda had to have one asap! i actually sold 2 in 24hrs - pretty good, huh?! i was thrilled!
this afternoon i've been baking like a mad woman - i have ruth's shower tomorrow & i'm so excited to celebrate the miracle of baby olivia! thankfully katie came to keep me company during her lunchbreak, so i wasn't too lonely!

i decided to take a breather while hudson & clint went on a run. it was nice, but now it's over & i've got to get on to icing all of these goodies!! i'll be sure to post pictures of the shower, so you can see the final product!

new creations & diaper rash rant

so i've cleaned up about 5 poopy diapers today & it's not even 4pm.
this is day two.
i know it could be worse - it has been worse, in fact. but at this moment right now, i just feel @ my absolute capacity for bowel movements.
i really should feel worse for hudson than for myself, as he's the one with the righteous diaper rash after all of this excrement (i'm thinking it might be the new malt-o-meal), but i just feel like i might go absolutely insane if i have to rub any more diaper cream on his rear!
anyway, i can say that i now truly understand why people get so upset when someone calls them an a**hole! really - it's a terrible cutdown!!! (if you've ever changed the kind of diapers i'm describing, you won't be offended by that comment!)

...deep breath...

in between diaper changes & "boudreaux's butt paste", i've managed to string together enough minutes to create a new set. i'm in love with this fabric, by the way! IN LOVE.

AND this is our new blankie-burp! it's an oversized burp cloth that can double as a little blankie. it's a great 2in1! more on that to come, but pricing right now is $12 on it's own, or $28 as a onesie&blankie-burp set! and as always, everything comes wrapped & ready to give. go shopping here!


the pictures aren't the best, but it's too rainy to get outside. maybe i'll snap some better ones tomorrow between changing diapers :)

this is the face of a freed jailbird. yes, for the 3rd time this little guy broke out of the crib & met me @ his door after nap time. these are perilous time around the harp household. to toddler bed or not to toddler bed... that is the question!

so i'm finally getting around to posting!

what have i been doing lately???

-lazing around. it's so good to have mom here! & i've been so lucky to feel pretty good after tuesday's procedure.
-shopping w/ mom. we shopped for a wedding we have next month. very fun - especially when we realized we'd given hudson one too many sippy cups of apple juice to appease him! yes, he had THE most saturated diaper, followed by major, man-sized toots on the way home! heehee.
-enjoying yummy food. our wonderful friends @ church have brought us dinner every night & are still coming! food = love :)
-rejoicing because FOUR of my baby gowns sold @ Snug as a Bug in ONE week!!!
-reminiscing about my girl time last weekend! we had soooo much fun in austin (lake travis). i also got to see my sister & suzanne & stefanie! it was JUST what the doctor ordered! i think that's how we all felt. here are some pictures...
