i cleaned my sink & i feel proud

some strange force took over me this morning (probably the sight of how gross the kitchen sink was) & i found myself whipping up a batch of vinegar + baking soda paste & scrubbing the heck out of the thing. and it felt good. even if i still felt nauseous while doing it! i'm @ that stage where i'm so tired of being tired & nauseous/starving. it's really wearing. hopefully only have a week or two left :)

and focusing on the positive, HEB had their tarragon chicken salad on a big sale this week & the alien baby likes it so that's been good. and it's raining right now, which will make for good napping weather for hudson & me. AND clint has so sweetly offered to stay home with hudson tonight, so i could go do something fun with stephanie & that feels like just what the doctor ordered!

so hope you're friday is turning out well, too :)

ps: if you've never tried the vinegar + baking soda paste, it works great. there's no measuring - just mix it together to form a softscrub type of paste & clean away. i even cleaned my stovetop with it. i love that it's totally nontoxic - no worry of getting it on you clothes/hands or breathing in the fumes.

issues

**warning, this post is going to inform you on the kinds of things that fill my brain these days. & it's nothing deep or really meaningful. read @ your own risk :)

i've got a dilemma.

a backpack dilemma.

well, it's actually worse than that. if you know me very well, you know i'm pretty bad @ making decisions. bad. it's like i become paralyzed with making the exact right decision in situations & especially if it's a big decision. this is a lot of the reason why my house has really only 2 rooms decorated & you'll still find blank frames on the walls!! i know, it's probably some diagnosable illness or something.

i'm pretty proud of myself that i just purchased a quilt & sheets for hudson's big boy bed last week. but of course i've been contemplating this purchase for 9 months, so it was about time!! but don't you worry - i kept the receipt just in case i find something better! i guess i have commitment issues - it's just that i always worry that i will find something i like better.

it's a curse.

anyway, back to the backpack - it's almost "back to school" time & hudson is off to mother's day out for the first time (gulp) this year. i think i might be masking my feelings of seeing my little guy go off to "school" for the first time. this masking is coming out in the form of backpacks.

i CANNOT for the life of me commit to a darn backpack.

i cannot decide. what color? what color to monogram? what type of lunchbox? are clip on lunchboxes really nice, or do they stick out too much? do i get one that goes IN the backpack, or will i then wish for a clip-on one? will this backpack be too big? will this one be too small? will this one hold up? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

originally, i wanted either an orange one with dark green monogram, or navy with light blue lettering. simple, right? you'd think i could find it, but no! so i think after much deliberation, i'm going with this one...

it's from land's end & features the clip on lunchbox. really, it's for bigger kids, but after talking with several moms, i've heard it's good to go with a bigger one if you want to keep it for awhile. it's not navy, but it's dark enough to stay nice looking i hope & i think i'm still going to go with light blue lettering. i hope it looks right. they recommend black, but i think that might be a little boring. thoughts?
so i'm going with this one.
for sure.
i'm sure of it.

unless i go with this one...

so cute, huh??! i love the bright green. (l.l.bean)but i think i'd have to do white lettering. i was just about to pull the trigger on this one, when i discovered, horror upon horror (!), i discovered you cannot get the lunchbox monogrammed. bumm-er! now before you think i'm just totally being ridiculous, i really do think he needs his name on the lunchbox @ this age, so it's easily identifiable. and for the same amount of $$, i'd rather monogram it than use a sharpie marker, you know. oh, & this on doesn't clip on the back pack. which may or may not be a good thing - i haven't figured that out yet!

and of course pbkids always has super cute stuff...

i'm dying here.

i really think i'm just going to do the blue. but i worry that the light blue thread will be too much with the blue, & then navy & then black zippers... i just don't know.

i guess i need to give myself a deadline :)

and another week goes by...

and almost another week & i haven't posted.
at least it was only a week :)

and what have i been doing in this week? not much. i believe it was mary evelyn who said pregnancy is 90% miracle & 10% freak show/alien living inside you?? (bev, you may just have to comment.)

i would have to agree. this little alien has been quite demanding. she's caused me to create what seems like a permanent dent in our couch. and she doesn't like laundry. or cooking.
but she does like to eat, though she's pretty picky & if she decides she doesn't want something to eat, she won't eat it! it's rough keeping up with her demands.

i'm trying to remind myself we only have 3-4 wks left of this craziness, but honestly i don't know if our house is going to make it. this morning we woke up to piles of laundry everywhere, toys galore adorning the floors, & maddie hair collections in the corners. (i'll spare you from describing the bathrooms.) and lest you think i'm really this clean freak that is just exaggerating the issue, let me share a conversation that really happened this weekend.

"where in the world are my boxers?? i've looked everywhere." -clint (as the poor man scavenges through various laundry piles.)
"did you look in your drawer?" -me (from the couch, of course)
"ooohhhh, that's where they are! i've been wondering!" -clint

really, it's that bad.

so this morning i've been defying the little alien & trying my darnedest (sp?) to get a few things done around here. a few piles of clothes have been put away (okay, clint did most of that but i'm still counting it), many have been folded, i actually got our sheets in the washer, started cleaning out the fridge, refilled our baby wipe boxes, made hudson breakfast & then a smoothie (the child is going through some kind of crazy growth spurt), AND took a shower already! whew! that's a full morning for me :)

maybe i need to lie down now...

okay, fine

i'll post!
i do think i've broken a personal record this time for longest time not to post.

but i do have a good excuse.

and if you're not friends with me on facebook, then maybe you'll be surprised to find out that...

this little guy's prayers have been answered & he's going to be a big brother!

yes, i'm almost to 9 wks. we went to the dr today & were able to see the little peanut & his/her little heart thumping wildly - what a blessing.

*and as a side note i'd like to say i absolutely adore this picture. i can't look @ it with out totally cracking up. the story is that we were doing a little family shopping during the fourth of july weekend (because, really nothing says "happy fourth!" like family chickfila minis for breakfast & shopping later on!) & hudson decided he wanted to try on daddy's shirt while daddy tried on the other shirts. & voila - choir boy was born :)

and it was that picture of hudson that caused clint & i to realize that we had been out all morning sporting the same shirt.

cool.

but you know, nothing says "happy fourth of july!" like going out as a family wearing matching shirts - especially in shades of blue - how very americana of us!

anyway, back to what you really care about - the baaaaaaabbbby (you know, how elaine's friend says it from seinfeld).

would you believe it if i told you we already know the baby's gender?
it's this state of the art, new test they have called your 2 yr old waking you up in the middle of the night & as you're laying him back down to sleep he says, "mama?". to which you reply a sleepy "yes?" & he says "...sister...". to which you totally freak out because it's pitch black dark in your house & you are getting goose bumps - especially when you realize that you have no idea where he even learned that word & you've never heard him say it.

yeah, weird.

so at least someone is buying it because when i got back to stephanie's house to pick up hudson after our dr's appt (did i mention how dear & sweet she is for adding another hooligan to her crew so we wouldn't have to wrangle him while being sonogrammed?), she had whipped up this PINK hat for the babe :)

punky, huh?

so what do you think? would you believe such a premonition?
