so hudson has shared cones with daddy before, but had never had a cone of his VERY OWN. pretty exciting stuff.

you can imagine what his clothes looked like when everything was said & done - it was a strip & baby wipe job before he could get back in the car!! but it was worth it to see that punky look on his face after he finished the very last bite :)

april showers bring may flowers?

on easter morning it we had a lot of rain, & today we're having a monster of a storm, which means maddie is in my lap panting, slobbering & generally freaking out as she always does during storms. i, of course chose this day to run completely out of diapers (first time in 2 yrs!) & so in the middle of the severe lightening, i was that mother in our local grocery store running with her barefoot child through the diaper isle frantically searching for size 6 pampers cruisers.
unfortunately, i had JUST been to the grocery store earlier & completely forgotten about our diaper shortage, so that was grocery store trip #2 for us.
don't worry, i didn't let his barefeet touch the ground. i carried all 30 lbs of him as i ran through the isles, trying to get out of there before the deluge began.

we did make it home before the downpour, but we made it home with size 5 instead of size 6. honestly.

anyway, we're surviving & i'm really looking foward to those may flowers :)

requisite easter pics

easter with (an almost) two year old is going to be tough to beat...

the festivities started earlier in the week @ library time where we made bunny ears, as you can see.

they continued with a little easter festival @ our friends' church...

after church & a nap, was the famed HUNT!



you may be wondering what the heck that is in his hands. oh, those are drum sticks - REAL drum sticks that noah gave him @ church that morning. he REFUSED to let them go. even for easter pictures. neat.

thankfully after an hour of easter egg hunting (we kept throwing the eggs around & then let him keep "finding" them!), he realized it really was a lot easier to pick those darn eggs up w/o the drum sticks. i grabbed them & we did a "photo shoot" before he realized they were gone...






his easter gift was a little set of clay elephants from ten thousand villages (i got it when i was in austin)...



we ended the day playing outside & drawing with daddy...


it was a nice easter.

lip gloss as lucky charm

i've been a big believer in lip gloss for awhile now.

no time for a shower? lip gloss.
can't find your make up bag? lip gloss.
just had a baby (or a 2 yr old) & don't know which way is up? lip gloss.

i've worn lip gloss for so long now that i couldn't pick out a decent shade of lipstick if you paid me!
it just seems to make things a little better. & apparently it was my trusty lucky charm again today when alacritydesigns landed another store (in my yoga clothes + lip gloss!)!! yaaaaaay!

soon we'll be selling in THE most darling gift store i've found around here - i'm so honored to have my line there! PLUS the ladies that work there are so very super sweet - the kind of women you could chat with for hours. feels like i'm selling to friends!

so welcome aboard store #5!!!

p.s. - they're also the first store to carry the new green sundress for girls!!! i can't wait to get my new pics up to show you everything!!

1. we're having spaghetti tonight w/ ragu's organic tomatoe sauce (aka cheapest organic sauce). it's decent. add sauteed onion, garlic & lots of oregano or "italian herbs" or whatever you have in your pantry.

2. i've been learning a lot about how inhumanely animals in our food production plants are treated & i'm feeling really disturbed about it.

3. as hudson was swinging today, i noticed this look of utter bliss & contentment on his face, & i wondered if i'm giving myself time space & time to experience that kind of quite contentment with life. (answer: no)

4. i like getting to know our neighbors. it makes me feel like it's 1963.

5. speaking of the past makes me think about what happened to that Texans player in dallas. i'm shocked & feel so very sorry for his family. it's unbelieveable.

6. my "pinks" are dying. black thumb strikes again.

7. i sometimes long for a life where the t.v. only comes on for lost, the office, & an occasional oprah & house hunters (international, of course!).

8. #7 might be because i watched Becoming Jane last night & period pieces like that always make me want to sit in the drawing room after dinner & read or play the piano.

10. i just got hudson's easter outfit monogrammed, & i can't wait to pick it up.

poop & pics

i really cannot handle "Dirtiest Jobs".

seriously, it's so gross. clint just flipped over & within half a second, i swear i heard the words "turd burner".

really?

i just told clint that it's such a little boy kind of show for big boys, & he said "yeeeaaaaah" while his eyes glazed over & a grin appeared on his face.

now they're cleaning airplane toilets. honestly.


of course i've got to say a turd burner might have come in handy today as stephanie & i did the first alacritydesigns photo shoot. we were working in the backyard (leaving all 3 boys inside to stare @ us through the windows & constantly yell "mooooommmmm!") in the midst of maddie's favorite area to do her business. ick.

but i think amidst the poopy & ever-changing-weather, we got some good shots - i can't wait to see them!

all good things must come to an end though, & as we came back inside, we assessed the havoc 3 small boys are able to wreak in such a short time (don't worry, we didn't just leave them there for a whole hour - we DID come back in to restart the dvd player & throw snacks @ them every once in awhile...)

not so bad :)

thank goodness for baby einstein & elmo crackers.
