potty training - day one

this is how the morning went:

hudson gets excited about wearing big boy underwear.
he chooses the elmo ones.
he agrees to use the potty & stay "clean & dry".
mommy puts him on the potty.
he is "done" in 2.5 seconds.
mommy thinks of everything to get him to stay.
10-15mins goes by (in which time holland is yelling for attention) & mommy finally gives up & agrees to let him try again in a few minutes.
hudson promptly pees in underwear & wonders what the big deal is.

multiply 4 times.

this equals mommy loosing it.

after crying on the couch for a little while (yes, it was that bad), i am now thinking of googling "someone to come pottytrain my son. i don't care how much".

such a personal preference here, but to make you feel better we trained Reid over spring break in March. He was already about 3 1/2. I waited and waited and waited out of not having time, not wanting to deal with it b/c of Caroline, advice, etc. WELL...he had started to always itch and scratch his diaper so literally I took it off one morning, stuck him in big boy undies and he never looked back. I think he's had to date maybe 4 accidents in all.

Sooo, my long point is go for it if you are ready, but if you're not, there will come a time when he is truly ready and it clicks w/o much effort. I had tried a couple of times to do this before and it was accidents galore in the morning, so I would just stop trying. Good luck regardless! You know he won't go to kindergarten in a diaper! ;-)

JAIME IS RIGHT, HE IS THE ONE THAT HAS TO BE READY. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE HIM OUT OF DIAPERS AND SAVE SOME MONEY!! BUT IF HE IS NOT READY, YOU WILL JUST END UP DOING ALOT MORE WASH! ACTUALLY HE IS SAVING YOU TIME, YEA, THATS IT, SAVING HIS SWEET MOMMIE TIME FROM DOING MORE LAUNDRY. PRECIOUS BOY. LOVE YOU HUSDON, MIMI

Potty training Hudson was a lot easier than Landon. Hudson was 2 1/2 and he had the peeing thing down in 1 day, pooping was a lot harder. I've tried two different times with Landon and it has been a nightmare. Right now my goal is to try in 2 weeks when school is over and right before swimming lessons begin.

When I tried over Spring Break, I worked really hard for 3 days and he wasn't getting it. I realized I was getting so frustrated at him that it was making matters worse so I just stopped and I am hoping that he will be ready in a couple of weeks. I think Landon has had a hard time realizing that baby Colson is here to stay and I think that played into the potty training. Good Luck!!
