guess what?

we {finally} sold our house.
whoa!!
we're celebrating by leaving large piles of clothes everywhere!!!

(funny how instagram cool.i.fies even piles of laundry)

i felt melancholy about the whole thing.  it's totally like i wrote in THIS post (where i said i didn't know what we'd do if we DIDN'T sell our house & i didn't know what we'd do if we DID sell our house) & reminded me of a quote my wise friend jim shared...

"the tradgedy of attachment is that, if its object is not attained, it causes unhappiness.  but, even if it is attained, it does not cause happiness - it merely causes a flash of shallow pleasure followed by weariness, & it is always accompanied, of course, by the anxiety that you may subsequently loose that new object of your attachment."

then i started thinking about a conversation my dear friend melissa & i had about this very concept - that we think we want this ONE thing, but "things" always have a flipside & it's never as great as you think it'll be.  the grass truly always seems so much greener, but it's a total illusion!

ultimately, i'm glad the house is sold.  i think it's the right thing (it happened didn't it??!), but i see so clearly in this moment how our happiness just can't rest in events & things - it has to be a contentness deep within.

leaving you (& me!) with this last quote for our wednesday (from my same wise friend jim - you should get yourself a wise friend named jim!)...
"the philosopher Diogenes was eating bread & lentils for supper.  he was seen by the philosopher aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.  said aristippus, 'if you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.'  said diogenes, 'if you would learn to live on lentils you would not have to be subservient to the king.' "

congratulations!
praise God! i know that you have been wanting this for a long time - so glad that you have the fulfillment of what you have been asking for!
a thought about the green grass on the other side -
jordan and i learned this from someone and think it is so good, "instead of looking at the green grass on the other side - learn to water your own grass." good stuff and excited to see how you watering your grass will lead to alot of fruit in your life!
excited where your journey will lead you!
love you guys!
